Women’s Golf Posts Fourth-Best GPA in NCAA Division III

Alongside a tremendous year on the course, the Illinois Wesleyan University women's golf team also excelled in the classroom as the Titans received Women's Golf Coaches Association All-Scholar Team honors Tuesday, July 16. The Titans compiled a team grade point average of 3.842, the fourth-best in all of NCAA Division III.

The Green and White's academic excellence saw Lexi Onsrud (Normal, Ill.-University High) earn the NCAA Elite 90 Award, while Onsrud and Emma Thorman (Macomb, Ill.-Macomb) were named College Sports Communicators Academic All-America First Team selections. Onsrud was also named the CSC At-Large Academic All-America of the Year for Division III. 

The announcement comes two weeks after Onsrud, Thorman, Rachel Ducaji (Springfield, Ill.-Sacred Heart-Griffin), Kira Petersen (Parker, Colo.-Chaparral), Macy Ludwig (Effingham, Ill.-St. Anthony), Jacque O'Neill (Harbor Springs, Mich.-Harbor Springs), Jadyn Spinks (Bloomington, Ill.-University High), Emily Gastrau (Wauwatosa, Wis.-Wauwatosa East) and Sarah Sim (Hoffman Estates, Ill-Fremd) garnered WGCA Scholar All-American honors.

On the course, the Titans broke countless records including the single season team scoring average. Five Titans were named All-College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin, while three were recognized as WGCA All-Region. Thorman was a WGCA All-American Honorable Mention pick after tying for third at the NCAA Championship, the highest individual finish in program history. Patrick Freeman was tabbed the CCIW Coach of the Year, while Craig Onsrud was voted the Golf Pride WGCA Division III Assistant Coach of the Year.
