5/19/2024 5:00:00 PM

INDIANAPOLIS - Illinois Wesleyan University senior women's golfer Lexi Onsrud (Normal, Ill.-University High) was recognized as the recipient of the NCAA's Elite 90 Award at the NCAA Division III Women's Golf National Championship banquet Sunday night, May 19.

Onsrud graduated earlier this month with a degree in kinesiology and allied health. She maintained a 4.00 grade point average during her college career, garnering two College Sports Communicators Academic All-America honors, three Academic All-College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin awards, three CCIW Elite 26 accolades, and was also named IWU's Jack Swartz Award recipient in the fall of 2022.

Overall, Onsrud is the seventh Elite 90 award recipient in Illinois Wesleyan history. She is the first since Amelia Glueck garnered the award in women's indoor track and field in 2018 and joins a list that includes Amanda Lack (softball - 2016 & 2017), Nick Anderson (men's basketball - 2014 & 2012), and Lexi Baltes (women's basketball - 2012).

The Elite 90, an award founded by the NCAA, recognizes the true essence of the student-athlete by honoring the individual who has reached the pinnacle of competition at the national championship level in his or her sport, while also achieving the highest academic standard among his or her peers. The Elite 90 is presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average participating at the finals site for each of the NCAA's championships.

Eligible student-athletes are sophomores or above who have participated in their sport for at least two years with their school. They must be an active member of the team, traveling and a designated member of the squad size at the championship. All ties are broken by the number of credits completed.

Onsrud and the Titans tee off at the national championship Tuesday, May 21. The Green and White will officially tee off beginning at 9:10 a.m. ET alongside Redlands and Washington & Lee.
