Men’s Tennis Sets Sight on CCIW Tournament Quarterfinal Contest

Titans face Augustana at 3:30 p.m.

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - Earning the sixth seed in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Tournament, the Illinois Wesleyan University men's tennis team will face third-seed Augustana College in the quarterfinals Thursday, May 2. The last quarterfinal contest of the day will take place at 3:30 p.m. at Jean-Kilgour Trailblazer Tennis Complex in Waukesha, Wis., as Carroll University is the host. 

The Titans enter the match with a 9-9 record, and are 2-5 in CCIW competitions. Most recently, IWU closed out the regular season with an 8-1 loss to Wheaton College. Illinois Wesleyan picked up its only win on the day at No. 1 singles where sophomore Ian Turnbull (Bloomington, Ill.-Bloomington) defeated his opponent with set scores of 6-3 and 6-1. The win helped Turnbull earn Second Team All-CCIW honors for the second straight season. 

IWU and Augie will face off for the 38th time, with the series dating back to 1990. The Vikings hold a commanding 28-9 advantage in the series, and took the most recent matchup 9-0 Saturday, April 13.
