CCIW Release

NAPERVILLE, Ill. – After polishing off its sixth straight undefeated College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin and claiming the league's regular season title, the Illinois Wesleyan University men's lacrosse team saw eight Titans secure All-CCIW honors while senior Michael Campagna (Arlington Heights, Ill.-Saint Viator) was named the conference's Defensive Student-Athlete of the Year. The CCIW announced its all-conference selections Tuesday afternoon, April 30.

IWU had the most First Team selections of any school in the conference as Campagna, juniors Colin Tervo (West Linn, Ore.-West Linn) and Sam Skelton (Portland, Ore.-Franklin), and seniors Gage Black (Peoria, Ill.-Dunlap) and Trystan Seeley (Castle Rock, Colo.-Castle View) earned the distinction. Senior Ethan Hart (Littleton, Colo.-J.K. Mullen), junior Sam Weinberg (Highwood, Ill.-Oak Park River Forest) and sophomore Noah Dretzka (Delafield, Wis.-Kettle Moraine) made Second Team. Senior goalkeeper Alex Oximana (Seattle, Wash.-Bishop Blanchet) was named IWU's CCIW RESPECT award recipient.

After earning Second Team honors the past two seasons, Campagna has proven his prowess in IWU's defensive front as he was recognized as the Defensive Player of the Year and a First Team selection. Campagna becomes the third Titan to earn the defensive specialty award and marks the fifth defensive honor for the program all-time. The senior helped anchor a Titan defense that allowed only 30 goals in conference play, compared to IWU's 83 goals scored, the most by any team in the league. In conference action, Campagna had 12 ground ball scoops, three caused turnovers, and one goal. Campagna was one of five Titans to earn CCIW Player of the Week honors this season.

Black earned First Team honors for the second straight season and the third All-CCIW selection of his career as a crucial midfielder for Illinois Wesleyan. The senior played in all five conference games as he led IWU with 13 goals in league action, while also dishing three assists and totaling four ground balls. Black leads the conference in shots per game with 10.80 and is sixth in goals per game with 2.60.

Seeley picks up First Team honors after being named to the Second Team in 2022. The senior midfielder played in all five conference matches totaling 13 points off eight goals and five assists and picked up eight ground balls. He earned CCIW Offensive Player of the Week back in early April for his role in IWU's 20-5 win over non-conference opponent Southwestern University.

Stepping into the lead goalie role as a junior, Tervo earned the first conference nod of his career as he was named to the First Team. Totaling 11.08 saves per game and a .550 save percentage, Tervo ranks fourth in the conference in both categories.

Another key to IWU's unrelenting defense, Skelton earns All-CCIW honors for the first time in his career as he rounds out the Titans' First Team selections. Skelton leads IWU with 13 caused turnovers and 16 ground balls while ranking second in the league with 2.60 caused turnovers per game and is 10th with 3.20 ground balls per game. In addition to his defensive efforts, Skelton has scored three points for the Green and White off of one goal and two assists in CCIW play.

Hart was named to the Second Team after the defender posted six ground balls, four turnovers, and one goal in four CCIW games played this season. The accolade is the first of the senior's career.

Weinberg, a junior attackman, was a Second Team selection following a season in which he ranked in the conference's top 10 in goals per game (2.40) and points per game (3.40). Weinberg started in all five league games this season and sits second on the team in points (17) and goals (12) and ties for third with five assists.

Dretzka continues to be an asset to the Titans at midfield, as he earns Second Team distinction after leading IWU with 19 points in conference play this season. Dretzka's points are comprised of 11 goals and eight assists while also totaling 11 scoops and has the only man-down goal in conference action. His 3.80 points per game rank sixth in the CCIW while also sitting at No. 8 in assists per game. Dretzka notched CCIW Offensive Player of the Week honors April 16, after totaling 10 points across two CCIW contests that included career-highs of seven points and five goals against Carthage, April 10.

Illinois Wesleyan hosts Carthage College Wednesday, April 30 for a CCIW Tournament Semifinal game at 7:30 p.m. inside Tucci Stadium.
