BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – In its final College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin match before the conference tournament, the Illinois Wesleyan University men's tennis team fell 8-1 to Wheaton College Saturday, April 27 inside the Evergreen Racquet Club. IWU drops to an even 9-9 overall record and is 2-5 CCIW action while Wheaton moves to 14-6 and 4-3 in the CCIW.

Illinois Wesleyan picked up its only win on the day at No. 1 singles where Sophomore Ian Turnbull (Bloomington, Ill.-Bloomington) defeated his opponent with set scores of 6-3 and 6-1. Sophomore Ben Vigneri (Casper, Wyo.-Phillips Exeter Academy) chipped away in his first set at No. 2 singles but ultimately fell in set scores of 6-3, 6-1. 

Turnbull and senior Ryan McCoy (Arlington Heights, Ill.-Rolling Meadows) battled in doubles action but could not completely execute, falling 8-4 at No. 1 singles. 

The CCIW Tournament will kick off Thursday, May 2 for the quarterfinals with semifinals and championship matches set for May 3-4, respectively. The tournament will be held at the Kean Kilgour-Trailblazer Tennis Complex in Waukesha, Wis.
