WAUKESHA, Wis. - The Illinois Wesleyan University men's tennis team fell to Carroll University in College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin action Friday afternoon, April 19. IWU (9-7, 2-3 CCIW) dropped the match 7-2 to CU (11-5, 3-2 CCIW).
Illinois Wesleyan grabbed wins at No. 2 doubles and No. 5 singles behind the play of junior Zeke Cross (Springfield, Ill.-Springfield) and sophomore Ben Vigneri (Casper, Wyo.-Phillips Exeter Academy). Starting in doubles play, Cross and Vigneri teamed up to earn an 8-4 victory at No. 2. Cross carried the success over into his singles bout, where he won by set scores of 6-3, 6-3.
IWU remains in Wisconsin for a 12 p.m. match against Carthage College tomorrow, April 20. The CCIW bout is scheduled to take place at Smeds Tennis Center in Kenosha, Wis.
