BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University baseball team is set to play Wheaton College Wednesday, April 17 at 6 p.m. The Titans are traveling to Wheaton, Ill. to play at Pfund Stadium against the Thunder. IWU goes into Wednesday's game with an overall record of 19-9 and 8-3 in College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin play. Wheaton is 7-18 this season and has a 1-9 record in CCIW games.

The Green and White have already faced the Thunder this season in a close battle that ended with IWU on top. The Titans and the Thunder were tied in the bottom of the ninth and with a swift hit from Junior Will Duff (Western Springs, Ill.-St. Ignatius), it was enough to send one more Titan home to win the game 13-12.

IWU and Wheaton have a lengthy history dating back to 1989 where IWU took the win over the Thunder 21-3. The Titans held a win streak against WC of 19 games from 2000-2006.

Senior Louis Perona (Chicago, Ill.-Lane Tech) was named CCIW Player of the Week Monday, April 15. This was the first of his career as he started in all five games this past week. Perona sits at No. 2 in the CCIW in batting average (.394) and third in hits with 39 total.

On the bump, sophomores Cole Shamhart (Oak Park, Ill.-Oak Park River Forest) and Will Davidsmeier (Virginia, Ill.-Beardstown) notched two wins each this past week with a combined ERA of 1.50 and 14 strikeouts.

Wednesday's game is set for 6 p.m. at Pfund Stadium in Wheaton, Ill. Both a live stream and live stats of the game are available on the baseball schedule of iwusports.com.
