CCIW Release

NAPERVILLE, Ill. - Illinois Wesleyan University senior women's golfer Emma Thorman (Macomb, Ill.-Macomb) was recognized as the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Women's Golfer of the Week Wednesday morning, March 27. It is the fifth honor of her career and the first awarded by the league office since before the conference championship back in October.

Thorman and the Titans have played in four tournaments since the last weekly award was handed out. Per conference guidelines, the Golfer of the Week honor is awarded when a minimum of four CCIW programs compete.

The Macomb, Ill. native was IWU's top finisher at three of its four tournaments, including coming away with medalist honors at the CCIW Championship in October. She fired rounds of 74, 74, and 70 to help Illinois Wesleyan roll to the CCIW title.

She followed that with a strong performance at the Golfweek October Classic, Oct. 15-17, where she tied for eighth. Thorman tallied rounds of 74, 74, and 73 to post a 54-hole total of 221 as IWU finished fourth as a team.

The senior kicked off the spring at the Westbrook Invitational, March 9-10, in Peoria, Ariz. There, Thorman used rounds of 72 and 74 to tie for 15th with a 146. She closed out spring break with a share of 23rd-place at the NCAA Division II Augustana (SD) Spring Fling, March 14-15.

Illinois Wesleyan returns to action Saturday-Sunday, April 6-7, at the WashU Spring Invite. The two-day tournament is scheduled to be played at Crescent Farms in Eureka, Mo.
