NAPERVILLE, Ill. - For the third straight week, the Illinois Wesleyan University softball team saw a student-athlete recognized as the recipient of a College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin weekly award Monday, March 25. Sophomore Anna Beckman (Bourbonnais, Ill.-Bishop McNamara) was named the CCIW's Hitter of the Week for the first time in her career, joining Hailey Milgazo (Hitter - March 18) and Gianna Certa (Pitcher - March 11) as league weekly awardwinners this season.

Beckman headlined Illinois Wesleyan's explosive offense in a sweep of Monmouth, March 21, in IWU's home opener. Beckman went 6-for-7 at the plate with a double and her first career homer. She posted a slash line of .857/1.429/.889 as the Titans swept the Scots.

Beckman kicked off the scoring in a 21-2 rout of Monmouth, belting her first career homer in the bottom of the first inning. The round-tripper was part of a historic day at the plate for the Titans, who finished with the second-most runs scored in program history. Additionally, the 21 runs were the most since 2006 when the record of 24 was set against North Park. Beckman also scored three runs, walked once, and was hit by a pitch, while rounding out her impressive day with a stolen base.

IWU improved its win streak to six with the sweep, while Beckman took her season batting average from .350 to .481 with the incredible two-game stint. She went 3-for-3 in game one, finishing a triple shy of the cycle, before adding a 3-for-4 showing in game two.

The Titans are slated to host Illinois College tomorrow, March 26, for a doubleheader. First pitch is set for 3 p.m. at Inspiration Field.
