Men’s Volleyball Falls to Fourth-Ranked Duhawks

Titans return to Shirk for senior day Sunday, March 24 against Augie

DUBUQUE, Iowa - The Illinois Wesleyan University men's volleyball team was clipped in straight sets by fourth-ranked Loras College Wednesday night, March 20 in College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin action. IWU dipped to 10-11 on the season and 1-5 in the CCIW as the Titans fell by set scores of 25-15, 25-22, and 25-16. The Duhawks soared to 19-0 overall and 6-0 in the league standings.

Illinois Wesleyan was led by senior Michael Eastman (Chicago, Ill.-St. Ignatius) and freshman Bryce Williams (Chicago, Ill.-Whitney M. Young). Eastman led the way with nine kills, while Williams posted eight kills on a .467 attacking percentage. Junior Vince DiCosola (Aurora, Ill.-Oswego East) tallied a team-high 15 assists, with freshman Brenden Reutter (Frankfort, Ill.-Lincoln-Way East) chipping in 11. 

DiCosola was IWU's team leader with four digs, while junior Jake Kougan (Frankfort, Ill.-Lincoln-Way East) recorded Illinois Wesleyan's lone block.

As a team, the Titans finished with 30 kills on a .143 attacking percentage. The Green and White were credited with 14 digs and three aces. The Duhawks hit .548 for the match with 40 kills. Loras also led with 20 digs and six blocks.

Next up, the Titans look to bounce back against Augustana College Sunday, March 24. First serve of the program's first Senior Day is scheduled for 3 p.m., with the recognition scheduled for before the match.
