ELMHURST, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University men's lacrosse team picked up its sixth straight win after taking down Elmhurst University, 18-15, April 15. Seniors Carson and Connor Kiichle paced the offense with six points each, while junior Bob Boone added five.

Titans Cage Tigers with 17-15 Triumph

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Illinois Wesleyan University men's lacrosse team closed out its spring break trip in Colorado Springs, Colo. with a 17-15 win over the week's host Colorado College Saturday, March 16 at Washburn Fields. IWU moves to 3-3 on the season while Colorado College is now 4-3. 

Senior Gage Black (Peoria, Ill.-Dunlap) led all Titans with a career-high 10 points off of seven goals and three assists. Freshman Timothy McHugh (Orland Park, Ill.-Mount Carmel) also had a career day with eight points, going for four goals and four assists. 
Sophomore Andrew Ortega (Austin, Texas-Westlake) totaled four points while seven additional Titans combined for 10 points.

At the x, senior Zo Lombardo (Elgin, Ill.-Saint Viator) won 20 of his 34 faceoffs. Junior Nick Horrocks (Boulder, Colo.-Fairview) led the team with four caused turnovers and four ground balls, while five Titans tied for second with three scoops apiece. Junior Colin Tervo (West Linn, Ore.-West Linn) was credited with the win, moving to 3-3 on the season in goal while totaling 12 saves. 

The opening 15 minutes saw IWU and CC trading points as four different Titans scored to level the board at 4-all. 

The Green and White kicked off the second period with a four-goal run. McHugh dished to Black for a man-up goal to take a one-point lead just 12 seconds before senior Ike Eastburn (Colorado Springs, Colo.-Cheyenne Mountain) would score off an assist from Ortega. Black had a part in the Titans' next two points with a goal and an assist to Ortega to double the score at 8-4. With just under three minutes left in the half, Colorado College answered with two goals to enter halftime at 8-6. 

McHugh net two man-down goals with assists from Black to start the third period with a 10-6 advantage. The Tigers scored four unanswered goals to level the score at 10-all. Black went to work for an unassisted man-down goal to regain the lead before Colorado College put it away for another tie with four minutes to go in the third. McHugh and sophomore Kaden Gammelgaard (Lake Zurich, Ill.-Lake Zurich) notched a pair of goals to end the period ahead, 13-12.

Just 15 seconds into the final period, McHugh set up Black for a man-up goal to move ahead 14-12. After nearly five unanswered minutes, the Tigers came back for a pair of goals with 9:30 left to go. IWU traded points with CC before Black and Ortega put away two to ultimately take the 17-15 win. 

IWU is set to travel to Albion, Mich. Saturday, March 23 for a 1 p.m. ET bout with Albion College.
