BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - After a 2-1 weekend in St. Louis, Mo., the Illinois Wesleyan University baseball team is traveling back to St. Louis, Mo. for a three-game series against the Bears of Washington University in St. Louis. The games are set for Saturday-Sunday, March 2-3, at Kelly Field in St. Louis. Saturday will feature a double header, starting at 11 a.m., while the series will conclude Sunday with the final game beginning at 12 p.m.

Entering the weekend slate, the Titans have a record of 2-1, while the Bears sit at 5-1 on the young season. Dating back to the 1990 campaign, the two have met on the diamond a total of 63 times, with the Green and White leading one win above the Bears, 32-31, in the all-time series. Recent history is on the Bears side, as WashU won the three-game slate last season by taking all three games.

WashU most recently took a 1-1 record to Coe College Sunday, Feb. 25. The Bears' took a win in the first game 6-3, but lost momentum in the second game losing 14-7.

On the flip side, the Titans are coming off of an opening weekend that saw the team play a trio of games in three days, Feb. 23-25. IWU competed against Fontbonne University, University of Wisconsin-Platteville, and Central College (Iowa). The Green and White's offense came alive in the second game of the season against UW-Plattville scoring three runs off of 10 hits. In the game, junior Dalen Banks (Springfield, Ill.-Springfield) tossed eight innings to shutout the Pioneers offense in the eventual 3-0 victory.

On the mound, head coach Dennis Martel has deployed 10 pitchers so far this season. Banks has a 0.00 earned run average over eight innings of work against UW-Platteville. The junior held the Pioneers to five hits.
