Crabtree, Chudy Named USTFCCCA All-Academic Athletes

IWU Men’s and Women’s teams earn All-Academic Teams

NEW ORLEANS – The Illinois Wesleyan University men's and women's cross country teams were named United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-Academic Teams while sophomore Adriana Crabtree (Normal, Ill.-University High) and junior Annalese Chudy (Libertyville, Ill.-Libertyville) were named All-Academic Athletes. The organization announced its selections, Thursday, Feb. 1.

To be eligible for the All-Academic Team distinction, teams must hold a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.30 on a 4.0 scale. Both IWU programs, led by head coach Greg Huffaker, were recognized by the USTFCCCA as All-Academic as the men have a 3.27 cumulative GPA and the women hold a 3.6.

For the All-Academic athlete distinction, one must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.30 on a 4.0 scale and finish in the top 25 percent of their respective regional championship meet. 

Crabtree, an environmental studies major, earns the second USTFCCCA All-Academic award of her young career after earning the distinction for the 2022 season. The sophomore turned in a 21st-place finish (22:12.8) at the Midwest Regional Championship back in November, punching her first-ever ticket to the NCAA Cross Country Championships. Crabtree was the Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin women's champion in late October where she also garnered First Team All-CCIW honors and was named the 2023 College Student-Athlete of the Meet. 

Chudy, a neuroscience major, earns the fourth academic award of her career alongside her USTFCCCA All-Academic, College Sports Communicators Academic All-District, and Academic All-CCIW awards from the 2022 season. Chudy finished in 25th place (22:19.3) at the Midwest Regional to earn her second-straight All-Region nod and NCAA Championship bid. The Libertyville, Ill. native turned in an eighth-place finish at the CCIW Championships to pick up her second All-CCIW First Team honor.
