NAPERVILLE, Ill. –
Facing its second College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin dual ever, the Illinois Wesleyan University men's wrestling team went up against No. 6 nationally-ranked North Central College Tuesday night, Dec. 3. NCC climbed to a 55-0 victory over the Titans inside Merner Fieldhouse.

Sophomore Austin Johnston (Normal, Ill.-Normal West) kicked off the meet in the 141-pound match. The sophomore was down 10-2 heading into the third period before picking up a two-point reversal but would ultimately fall in a 14-4 major decision.

Freshman Jackson Castaneda (Oak Forest, Ill.-Oak Forest) scored a three-point takedown in the opening period of the 165-pound match to give IWU its first lead of the night at 4-3. A reversal by NCC's Nolan Flores gave the Cardinals a 5-4 lead heading into the second period but would eventually grow to a 9-5 advantage before the final period. Castaneda managed to cut the match score to three with a somersault escape off the whistle, 9-6, but it would not be enough as he fell 12-7.

Illinois Wesleyan will be back in Naperville, Ill., Saturday, Dec. 14 for the 60th annual North Central College Invitational held in the Residential Recreational Center.
