Women’s Volleyball Concludes 2024 Season in NCAA Regional Championship

French and Boyd named to all-tournament team

MARIETTA, Ohio – The Illinois Wesleyan University women's volleyball's team's storied season came to an end in the Sweet Sixteen of the NCAA Division III Tournament Saturday night, Nov. 23. A three-set loss to No. 7 University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh closes out IWU's season at 24-10.

Illinois Wesleyan fell by set scores of 25-19, 25-19, and 25-20, as UWO advanced to the final eight of the tournament. Juniors Taylor French (Romeoville, Ill.-Plainfield East) and Kannyn Boyd (Mt. Pleasant, Mich.-Mt. Pleasant) were named to the regional all-tournament team.

Sophomore Sophia Feeney (Bloomington, Ill.-Normal Community) and senior Abby Erdman (Aurora, Ill.-Metea Valley) finished with 13 and 11 assists, respectively. French was the team's kills leader as she finished with eight. Junior Hannah Tellor (Metamora, Ill.-Metamora Township) posted six kills on a .462 clip, while sophomore Eleanor Palmer (Chicago, Ill.-DePaul College Prep) added five.

Boyd paced the defense with 20 digs. French and freshman Alex Bardouniotis (St. Charles, Ill.-St. Charles North) contributed 10 digs each.

Senior Morgan Harrington (Plainfield, Ill.-Plainfield East) tallied a team-best three blocks. Tellor and Palmer added two rejections apiece. 

UW-Oshkosh hit at a .320 clip, while IWU was limited to a .198 attack percentage. The Green and White held a 4-2 edge in blocks, while UWO grabbed advantages in digs (57-48) and kills (52-34). Each team finished with four aces.

The loss concludes the careers of fifth-year Jordan Pierce (Bonfield, Ill.-Herscher), seniors Jessie Sariev (Schaumburg, Ill.-Schaumburg), Carly Kuehl (St. Louis, Mo.-Parkway West), Erdman, and Harrington. The senior class helped the Titans win two College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Championships, two CCIW Tournament Championships, and was part of two NCAA Tournament appearances.
