BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – Coming off a weekend tournament at Millikin University, the Illinois Wesleyan University men's wrestling team welcomes the Big Blue to Bloomington Friday, Nov. 15, for the Green and White's debut in the Shirk Center. IWU will recognize seniors Omar AlQammaz (Orland Park, Ill.-Victor J. Andrew), Leonardo Reyes (Manteno, Ill.-Manteno), and Bobby Conroy (St. Louis, Mo.-St. Louis University HS) ahead of Friday's 7 p.m. meet.

Friday's meet will be the first in dual competition for IWU since the program was reintroduced in 2023 and will serve as its first test in College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin action. Expected to start in IWU's first dual in Shirk will be freshmen Chandler Gardner (Marengo, Ill.-Marian Central Catholic), Evan Carel (Hamilton, Ill.-Hamilton), Jackson Castaneda (Oak Forest, Ill.-Oak Forest), Noah Passoni (Normal, Ill.-Normal West), and Elijah Villegas (Chicago, Ill.-Wells Community Academy), sophomore Austin Johnston (Normal, Ill.-Normal), and seniors Reyes, AlQammaz, and Conroy.

The Titans had 10 men wrestling at the 18-team Millikin Open, Saturday, Nov. 9 and saw Conroy and Carel turn in fourth-place finishes in the 184-pound and 149-pound weight classes, respectively. Conroy posted a 3-2 record on the day with a clean slate through the quarterfinal match before meeting the No. 10 and No. 14 nationally-ranked wrestlers at 184 pounds in the semifinal and third-place matches. Carel had a 2-2 record on the day to finish fourth in the 149-pound second bracket.

Millikin comes to IWU with a 2-0 record in dual action after defeating CCIW foes Milwaukee School of Engineering, 39-3, and Elmhurst University, 41-5. The Big Blue currently top league standings alongside North Central College.

The meet is slated for a 7 p.m. start inside Shirk Center with the senior day recognition starting five minutes ahead of the first match. The first 200 students through the doors will receive free rally towels.

Final results will be posted to the men's wrestling schedule page of iwusports.com upon the meet's conclusion.
