Women’s Golf Continues to Roll at CCIW Championship

Titans own 53-stroke lead

METAMORA, Ill. - Illinois Wesleyan University women's golf team expanded its lead at the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Championship Friday, Oct. 4, as the 10th-ranked Titans carded a 290 on the par-71, 5793-yard Metamora Fields Golf Club. With the best round of the tournament so far, Illinois Wesleyan built its lead 53 strokes going into tomorrow's final round. 

IWU's strong performance features a 1-2-3 punch by way of seniors Macy Ludwig (Effingham, Ill.-St. Anthony) and Jadyn Spinks (Bloomington, Ill.-University High) along with freshman Gigi Zera (Glenview, Ill.-Loyola Academy). Ludwig holds a slim two-stroke edge following a one-over 72 to sit at 143 through 36 holes. Spinks fired the best round of the tournament with a two-under 69 to climb into second at 145. Zera posted a three-over 74 and ranks third at 149.

Senior Jacque O'Neill (Harbor Springs, Mich.-Harbor Springs) shaved seven strokes off her opening round with a 75 to catapult into a tie for seventh. Sophomore Nora Cerroni (Waukesha, Wis.-Waukesha North) ranks 10th at 158, while senior Kylie Hundman (Bloomington, Ill.-Central Catholic) is tied for 11th with a 159.

The Titans lead the field with a two-day score of 588. Elmhurst is second with a total of 641, while North Central is third at 642. 

Final round action is scheduled for tomorrow, Oct. 5. Tee times get underway at 8 a.m., beginning with Hundman at 9:48 a.m.
