Four Titans in Top-Five on Day One of CCIW Championship

With 18 holes in the books, the eighth-ranked Illinois Wesleyan University women's golf team is in control at the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Championship. The Titans carded an opening round 298 on the par-71, 5793-yard Metamora Fields Golf Course. 

Senior Macy Ludwig (Effingham, Ill.-St. Anthony) leads the 50-player field following an even-par 71. She used four birdies, including two on par-threes to climb atop the leaderboard. Ludwig holds a four-stroke lead over freshman Gigi Zera (Glenview, Ill.-Loyola Academy), who is tied for second at 75. 

Seniors Kylie Hundman (Bloomington, Ill.-Central Catholic) and Jadyn Spinks (Bloomington, Ill.-University High) each hold a share of fourth with five-over 76s. Sophomore Nora Cerroni (Waukesha, Wis.-Waukesha North) and senior Jacque O'Neill (Harbor Springs, Mich.-Harbor Springs) also sit inside the top-20. Cerroni, in her CCIW Championship debut, is tied for 12th, while O'Neill holds a share of 16th.

The Titans lead the team standings by 19 strokes over North Central with their first day score of 298. IWU was the lone CCIW school to card a sub-300 round. NCC is second at 317, while Elmhurst is in third at 327. Carthage (330) is one-stroke ahead of Augustana (331) to round out the top-five. Carroll (334), Millikin (341), and North Park (369) are sixth, seventh, and eighth, respectively.
