Women’s Soccer Clipped by Carroll on Senior Day

Titans close out the season Wednesday, Oct. 30 against Millikin

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University women's soccer team dropped a Senior Day showdown to Carroll University Saturday afternoon, Oct. 26, at Neis Field. The Titans (3-11-2, 1-5-1 CCIW) fell by a score of 2-nil as the Pioneers (9-4-2, 7-0-0 CCIW) remained unbeaten in College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin play.

Prior to the game, IWU honored its senior quartet of Tegan Timerman (Peoria, Ill.-Peoria Notre Dame), Laci Jerkatis (New Lenox, Ill.-Lincoln-Way Central), Carla Martinez (Normal, Ill.-Normal West), and Kayla Borg (McHenry, Ill.-Cary Grove). Together, the group was part of two CCIW Regular Season titles, one CCIW Tournament Championship, and an NCAA Tournament berth.

Freshman Grace Kiewet (Leawood, Kan.-Notre Dame de Sion) made 10 saves in the loss, as IWU was outshot 21-15 on the day. The Titans tallied five shots on frame, while the Pioneers put 12 shots on target. Carroll finished with a 9-2 lead in corners.

A goal in the 42nd minute gave the Pios a 1-nil halftime edge, despite a relatively even first 45 minutes of play. IWU tallied seven shots to CU's 11, while the Green and White put four on target in the opening half.

A penalty kick early in the second half allowed Carroll to double its lead, 2-0, finishing off the match's scoring.

Illinois Wesleyan wraps up its season Wednesday, Oct. 30, as host to Millikin University. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m. under the lights at Neis Field.
