Men’s Soccer Celebrates Senior Day Against Carroll

Kick off set for 3:30 p.m.

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - After only its second loss of the season, the Illinois Wesleyan University men's soccer team looks for two more wins to finish off the regular season. IWU takes on College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin foe Carroll University, Saturday, Oct. 26 to play its last regular season home game. Game time is set for 3:30 p.m. following the conclusion of the women's soccer game at 1 p.m. 

Saturday, men's soccer will be celebrating the seniors of the 2024 team. The Titans will honor Mush Bakirdan (Morton, Ill.-Morton), Treyson Bixby (Bloomington, Ill.-Normal Community), Justin Bruso (Bloomington, Ill.-Normal Community), Devyn Kennedy (Earlville, Ill.-Earlville Jr./Sr.), Will McNulty (Glen Ellyn, Ill.-Glenbard West), Declan Nugent (Naperville, Ill.-Neuqua Valley), and Logan Shumaker (Decatur, Ill.-Mt. Zion). Within the graduating class, the seven seniors have scored 11 goals, tallied 17 assists, and played 12,595 minutes in their years as Titans. They were also a part of the 2023 team that won the program's first CCIW Tournament Championship, and made the program's first NCAA Tournament appearance.

IWU heads into Saturday's game with a 9-2-3 record, and is 3-2-1 in conference play. The Titans most recent meeting was Wednesday, Oct. 23 against North Central where the Cardinals defeated the Green and White, 2-1. The lone goal for the Titans was scored by junior Logan Tierney (Bloomington, Ill.-Normal Community), assisted by fellow junior Kalabi Kamau (Alpharetta, Ga.-Marist School)

With two losses in conference, IWU is currently tied for fourth with North Central, both fighting for a spot in the CCIW tournament. The top six teams in the conference will compete for the trophy, with Wheaton, Carroll, and North Park already claiming spots. 

CU is 8-4-4 on the year, and has a 4-2-1 record in the CCIW. Most recently, the Pioneers saw their two losses in conference play in the last two games to Wheaton and North Park.

Starting junior goalkeeper Sam Kedzior (Cary, Ill.-Cary Grove) sits second in conference in goals against average (.803), and save percentage (.833). Kedzior is tied for first in shutouts per game with the North Park goalie, Ludvig Almborg with a .500.
