Men’s Soccer Sets Sights on Bluejays

Game time set for 7 p.m.

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - After defeating Augustana College at home on Wednesday, Oct. 16, the Illinois Wesleyan University men's soccer team takes on College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin foe Elmhurst University, Saturday, Oct. 19. under the lights. Game time is set for 7 p.m. on Langhorst Field. 

IWU is going into Saturday's matchup 9-1-2 on the season and is 3-1 in CCIW play. Most recently, the Titans took down Augie 1-nil. Senior Mush Bakridan (Morton, Ill.-Morton) scored the lone goal off of a free kick straight into the back of the net. 

Elmhurst is 5-8-2 overall, and 0-5 in conference, pawing at its first win in CCIW play. The Bluejays most recently fell to Carroll University, 3-1, Wednesday, Oct 16. 

Dating back to 2004, the Titans and Bluejays have played a total of 21 times prior to this Saturday's meeting. IWU takes the series record of 10-8-3 into the contest, but the Bluejays have been victorious as of late. Last season, the Green and White dropped to EU 2-nil.

Junior goalkeeper Sam Kedzior (Cary, Ill.-Cary Grove) ranks first in conference in shutouts (7) and save percentage (.862), while also standing in second place in goals against average (.684). Bakirdan also shot to the top of the CCIW in game-winning goals with three. Senior Devyn Kennedy (Earlville, Ill.- Earlville Jr./Sr.) also continues to sit at the top of the league with five assists on the season.
