Women’s Volleyball Hosts UW-Stevens Point

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University women's volleyball team hosts University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point for a non-conference battle Friday night, Oct. 18. First serve is scheduled for 6 p.m. inside Shirk Center. The Titans (15-5) look to extend their win streak to nine and remain undefeated in the month of October, while UWSP enters with an overall record of 15-6. 

Illinois Wesleyan's offense has been led by juniors Taylor French (Romeoville, Ill.-Plainfield East) and Hannah Tellor (Metamora, Ill.-Metamora Township). French is 14th nationally with 312 kills, while her 4.22 kills per set average ranks 18th among Division III. Tellor is second on the squad with 160 kills, and her .364 attack percentage leads the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin and is 26th nationally. Freshman Alex Bardouniotis (St. Charles, Ill.-St. Charles East) is third on the team with 148 kills. 

Sophomore Sophia Feeney (Bloomington, Ill.-Normal Community), senior Abby Erdman (Aurora, Ill.-Metea Valley), and fifth-year Jordan Pierce (Bonfield, Ill.-Herscher) have orchestrated the majority of the Green and White offense this season. Feeney leads the team with 344 assists, averaging 5.13 per set. Erdman sits second with 263 helpers, while Pierce has posted 143 on the season. French's 49 aces are a team-high, while Bardouniotis and Feeney are second and third with 33 and 20, respectively. 

Defensively, junior Kannyn Boyd (Mt. Pleasant, Mich.-Mt. Pleasant) leads the Titans with 297 digs, averaging 4.87 per set. French is second with 226, holding an average of 3.05 per set, followed by Bardouniotis with 131. Sophomore Eleanor Palmer (Chicago, Ill.-DePaul College Prep) has led the net defense, having totaled a team-best 54 blocks, 13 by way of solo stuffs. Tellor's 51 rejections are second, while senior Morgan Harrington (Plainfield, Ill.-Plainfield East) is third with 29 rejections. 

IWU and UW-Stevens Point will meet for the 14th time, with the inaugural meeting occurring in 1997. The Titans took the last matchup in five sets Sept. 9, 2023, but trail 8-5 in the series. The last battle between the two saw French post a 22-kill, 18-dig, double-double performance. Then-sophomore Katie Gund (Pewaukee, Wis.-Pewaukee) led the team with 24 assists, followed by Feeney with 13. The Pointers come to town after defeating fifth-ranked University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Wednesday night, Oct. 17.
