Women’s Soccer Eyes Augustana for Midweek Match

Game time set for 7 p.m.

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – The Illinois Wesleyan University women's soccer team is back on the road this week for a College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin contest with Augustana College Wednesday, Oct. 16. Game time in Rock Island, Ill. is set for 7 p.m.

IWU is coming off a 1-1 week in CCIW action after defeating Wheaton in a 3-0 shutout Wednesday, Oct. 9 to pick up its first win in league play before dropping a 2-0 contest to North Park on Saturday, 

Freshman keeper Grace Kiewiet (Leawood, Kan.-Notre Dame de Sion) recorded 13 saves on the week with a .867 save percentage while freshman Liza Wiley (Bloomington, Ind.-Home School) had two goals in the game against Wheaton. Junior captain Bree Cordray (Le Roy, Ill.-University High) scored the Titans' first goal of the 3-0 shutout over Wheaton. 

Kiewiet's 6.33 saves per game rank second in the CCIW while her .792 save percentage sits fourth.

The Green and White carries a 3-8-1, 1-2 CCIW record into the week while Augustana is 7-4-2 and 1-3 in CCIW play. Augustana most recently succumbed to a 2-0 loss to Wheaton Saturday, Oct. 12. 

In its series history that dates back to 1994, the Titans hold the advantage with a 19-10-8 series record. IWU has won five of the last six meetings with the Vikings. The blip in the win streak came just over a year ago when Augustana won 1-0 in Rock Island, Oct. 4, 2023.
