SANDESTIN, Fla. - The 10th-ranked Illinois Wesleyan University women's golf team kicked off the 54-hole Golfweek October Classic Sunday, Oct. 13, with an opening round total of 301 on The Links, a par-72, 5611-yard course in Sandestin, Fla. With one round down and two to play, the Titans hold a share of seventh in the 24-team tournament.

Senior Jadyn Spinks (Bloomington, Ill.-University High) carded a one-under 71 to lead the Green and White on day one. After starting on the back-nine, Spinks birdied three of her last eight holes to climb into the top-five. She holds a share of fourth-place in the 124-player field.

Freshman Gigi Zera (Glenview, Ill.-Loyola Academy) and sophomore Nora Cerroni (Waukesha, Wis.-Waukesha North) each carded four-over 76s and rank tied for 39th. Senior Kylie Hundman (Bloomington, Ill.-Central Catholic) aced hole No. 12, registering a hole-in-one on the 124-yard hole. 

There is a three-way tie atop the 124-player leaderboard between Emory's Zimo Li, Rhode's Ava Bankston, and Denison's Natalia Fanucchi at two-under, 70. WashU leads the team standings at three-over (291), with Emory second at 293. Carnegie Mellon and Carleton are tied for third at 294. Williams is fifth with a score of 296.

Second round action is scheduled for tomorrow, Oct. 14. Live scoring will be available via Golfstat, while results will be posted to iwusports.com following the conclusion of the round.
