CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind. - To beat the bad weather the Illinois Wesleyan men's swim and dive team started an hour earlier than scheduled against the Little Giants of Wabash College Friday, Jan. 12. The Green and White were bested by Wabash, 157-75, despite a pair of individual titles.

The Titans took home two individual wins in the 11 events that were held. Junior Alex Kula (Pekin, Ill-Pekin Community) took first in the 100-yard freestyle coming in with a time of 50.59. Fellow junior Carter Dilger (Sellersburg, Ind.-Jeffersonville) won the 100-yard butterfly, clocking in at 54.63 just shy of his personal best at IWU (54.17).

Senior Lane Wagner (Danville, Ill.-Danville) placed second in two different events. Swimming a time of 4:21.99 in the 400-yard IM, and clocking in at 58.30 in the 100-yard backstroke, Wagner made an impressive impact. Along with Wagner, freshman Jack Hansen (Naperville, Ill.-Benet) placed second and third in two events. Hansen swam the 1000-yard freestyle event, placing second with a time of 10:33.25, to go with a third place performance in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:04.20).

Kula and Wagner teamed up with sophomore Sam Fogarty (Pontiac, Ill.-Pontiac Township) and freshman Rylan Nelson (Normal, Ill.-University), for the 200-yard freestyle relay win, racing a time of 1:31.75 and is the first time they have swam this event together.

The Titans are set to host the Fightin' Engineers of Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology Saturday, Jan. 13 and will reunite with the IWU women's team inside Fort Natatorium. The first event will start at 1 p.m. and will be streamed via the IWU Swim and Dive Facebook page which can be found here. The results will be posted on iwusports.com after the event is over.
