Women’s Volleyball Downed by Mount St. Joseph

Titans return to the court Saturday, Sept. 9, at 10:30 a.m.

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – The Illinois Wesleyan University women's volleyball team opened the first day of the Illinois Wesleyan Tournament I with a straight-set loss to Mount St. Joseph University Friday night, Sept. 8. The Titans (0-4) fell in three sets with scores 25-19, 26-24, 25-10.

The Lions (4-0) held advantages in kills (38-27), assists (35-27), digs (57-55), service aces (5-2), and blocks (5-2), and hit .239 for the match, while the Titans were held to .036.

Offensively, sophomore Taylor French (Romeoville, Ill.-Plainfield East) finished with a team-high seven kills. Freshman Eleanor Palmer (Chicago, Ill.-DePaul College Prep) notched five kills on a .417 clip, while senior Taylor Babec (Joliet, Ill.-Plainfield Central) also finished with five kills on a .364 attack percentage. Freshman Sophia Feeney (Bloomington, Ill.-Normal Community) posted a team-best 14 assists.

On the defensive side, senior Faith Washko (Springfield, Ill.-Sacred Heart-Griffin) recorded 18 digs, while French finished with 14. 

The Titans return to action on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. against Concordia-Wisconsin before taking on No. 15 UW-Stevens Point at 1 p.m.
