Men’s Soccer Tripped Up at Wheaton

Titans to host Augustana Oct. 4

WHEATON, Ill. – The Illinois Wesleyan University men's soccer team faced a long battle in its matchup with Wheaton College Saturday, Sept. 30 as the Titans fell 1-0 in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin match. IWU moves to a 2-4-2 (0-1-1 CCIW) record while Wheaton gains its first CCIW win for a 7-4 (1-0 CCIW) record.

Despite the Titans leading the first half seven shots to three, it would be the Thunder that notched the first goal off a deflection in the 18th minute of play to lead 1-nil. The Green and White defense held off Wheaton's offensive efforts for the remainder of the half led by sophomore goalkeeper Sam Kedzior (Cary, Ill.-Cary Grove) who picked up two saves before halftime.

The second half saw a fairly even-matched contest with Wheaton narrowly leading in shots (8-6) and corners (4-2). Kedzior added four more saves in the second half to his evening's total of six. CJ Rodriguez (Santa Barbara, Calif.-Dos Pueblos) led the Titans with three attempts while Faheem Mujahid (Saint Robert, Mo.-Waynesville) and Sasha Tylnyy (Wheeling, Ill.-Buffalo Grove) had two shots each.

The Titans will host Augustana College for a CCIW matchup Wednesday, Oct. 4 at Neis Field. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
