BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – The Illinois Wesleyan University women's soccer team heads to Wheaton, Ill. for a College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin clash with Wheaton College Saturday, Sept. 28 at 4:30 p.m. inside Joe Bean Stadium.
The Titans enter their third CCIW contest 1-8-1 (0-1-1 CCIW) while the Thunder will face their first CCIW foe of the season with a 1-5-3 overall record. Both teams are coming off of midweek losses as Illinois Wesleyan dropped its match against Millikin University, 2-0, in Decatur, Ill., while Wheaton fell, 3-2, at home against UW-Whitewater Wednesday night.Â
Freshman Ava Mapes (Golden, Colo.-Lakewood) leads the Titans with two goals, both coming in the Sept. 6 game against Knox. Juniors Tegan Timerman (Peoria, Ill.-Peoria Notre Dame), Amanda Yaeger (New Lenox, Ill.-Lincoln-Way West), and freshman Sophie Lampert (Hudson, Ill.-Normal West) each have one goal this season. Wheaton has six goal scorers on their squad with Katherine Ashley and Audrey Sexson leading the way with three goals apiece.Â
Illinois Wesleyan and Wheaton's series history dates back to 1994 with the Titans trailing in a 31-6-5 series record. In their last meeting, Illinois Wesleyan shut out the Thunder in a 5-0 match that featured three goals from current assistant coach, Caelyn Bieterman (nee Steffens). Sophomore Sawyer White (Downers Grove, Ill.-Montini Catholic) also notched an assist in the contest.Â
Saturday's contest will kick off at 4:30 p.m. inside Joe Bean Stadium and will be followed by the Illinois Wesleyan men's game at 7 p.m. The women's match will be available via live stream here, and live stats can be viewed
