Titans, Thunder to Tangle Saturday Night in Wheaton

Game will serve as second leg of a doubleheader with the IWU women’s team

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University men's soccer team goes into its second College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin game on the road Saturday, Sept. 30 against Wheaton College. Kick off is set for 7 p.m. under the lights at Joe Bean Stadium. 

IWU enters off a 1-1 draw at Wabash College Tuesday, Sept. 26. Junior Mush Bakirdan (Morton, Ill.-Morton) scored the lone goal for the Green and White on a penalty kick. The Titans head into Saturday's contest with a 2-3-2 overall record, 0-0-1 in CCIW action. Wheaton most recently bested Trine University, 3-2, upping its record to 5-4 overall. Saturday's match will be the Thunder's CCIW opener.

The Titans and Thunder have met a total of 36 times dating back to 1988, with Wheaton holding a 31-5 advantage. The last meeting between the two teams was Oct. 1 2022, where the Thunder bested the Titans 2-1.
