BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University women's volleyball team will host Augustana College Wednesday, Sept. 27, for a College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin midweek match. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m. inside the Shirk Center.
The Titans (5-8, 1-1 CCIW) enter the contest off a three-set loss to No. 2 Hope College Saturday, Sept. 23. Junior Carly Kuehl (St. Louis, Mo.-Parkway West) tallied nine kills on a .333 attack percentage, while junior
Morgan Harrington (Plainfield, Ill.-Plainfield East) also finished with nine kills on a .304 clip. Senior
Faith Washko (Springfield, Ill.-Sacred-Heart Griffin) led the defense with 18 digs.
Offensively, the Green and White have been led by sophomore Taylor French (Romeoville, Ill.-Plainfield East), who ranks among the top-20 nationally in kills (204), kills per set (4.16), points (235.5), and points per set (4.81). Freshman
Sophia Feeney (Bloomington, Ill.-Normal Community) and junior
Abby Erdman (Aurora, Ill.-Metea Valley) have orchestrated the majority of the offense with 234 and 164 assists, respectively. French leads the team in service aces with 24, an average of 0.49 per set, while Washko has 22, an average of 0.45 per set.
On the defensive side, Washko leads the Green and White with 243 digs, averaging 4.96 per set. French is second with 162, while Feeney rounds out the top-three with 110. The Titans have seen a heavy net presence from freshman Eleanor Palmer (Chicago, Ill.-DePaul College Prep) and senior
Taylor Babec (Joliet, Ill.-Plainfield Central). Palmer leads the team with 30 total blocks, an average of 0.63 per set, with four solo blocks. Babec is second on the squad with 29 total blocks but leads the team with seven solo rejections.
Augustana (10-3, 1-1 CCIW) enters the contest off a three-set loss to seventh-ranked University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Friday, Sept. 22. Wednesday's meeting will be the 45th all-time matchup between the Titans and Vikings. IWU holds a 24-19 advantage in the series, but Augie took the last matchup, taking all five sets to do so, Sept. 30, 2022. French led the match with 17 kills, and added 23 digs to round out a double-double performance. Erdman recorded a team-high 28 assists, while Washko's 29 digs were a match-high.
