Men’s Soccer Stumbles Against Lake Forest

Titans sit at 2-2

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University men's soccer team suffered a 2-nil non-conference loss at the hands of Lake Forest College Saturday, Sept. 16, at Neis Field. Illinois Wesleyan's record dips to 2-2 with the loss, while Lake Forest improved to 2-5.

The two teams played a fairly even match, with the Foresters capitalizing on their opportunities. IWU finished with eight shots, two on goal, to LFC's nine shots. The Foresters put four shots on target and held a 4-3 edge in corners.

Lake Forest grabbed the lead around the 19-minute mark as a shot found the back of the net to break the scoreless tie. The 1-nil difference carried into halftime and then late into the match before LFC took advantage of IWU pressing for the equalizer.

The Foresters scored an insurance goal in the 81st minute to finish off the 2-0 loss.

Sophomore Sam Kedzior (Cary, Ill.-Cary Grove) and junior Ethan Fineman (Highland Park, Ill.-Highland Park) split time in between the posts for the Titans. Each finished with one save and one goal allowed over 45 minutes of play.

The Green and White hits the road for a Tuesday night tilt at Knox College, Sept. 19. Game time is slated for 5 p.m. at Jorge Prats Field.
