Men’s Volleyball Drops Match at NPU

Titans host Augie Saturday, March 11

CHICAGO - The Illinois Wesleyan University men's volleyball team came up short on the road Wednesday night, March 8, dropping a College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin match at North Park University. IWU (9-9, 0-3 CCIW) fell in straight sets by scores of (25-19, 25-23, 25-17) at NPU (9-7, 1-2 CCIW).

Juniors Michael Eastman (Chicago, Ill.-Saint Ignatius) and Javier Romano (Prospect Heights, Ill.-Wheeling) paced the Titans in the setback. Eastman cranked out a team-best 12 kills on a .188 clip, while leading the team with eight digs. Romano tallied a career-high 7 kills on a .222 attacking percentage. He also racked up four blocks, three solo. Junior Bradley Benson (Lemont, Ill.-Lemont Township) and sophomore Vince DiCosola (Aurora, Ill.-Oswego East) recorded 14 assists apiece.

As a team, the Green and White finished with an attacking percentage of .115 with 34 kills on 96 attempts. North Park tallied 34 kills and boasted a clip of .282. NPU also held a 32-27 edge in digs and a 4-3 lead in service aces, while doubling up the Titans in blocks (14-7).

The Titans return home Saturday, March 11, as CCIW play continues. Illinois Wesleyan host Augustana College for a 6:30 p.m. first serve.
