BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - After a successful 4-0 spring break trip, the Illinois Wesleyan University men's tennis team will host Augustana College in the Conference College of Illinois and Wisconsin opener Friday, March 24. The Titans (8-4) are set to host the VIkings (4-3) at the Evergreen Racquet Club at 4 p.m. After taking a day off to recover, IWU will head to North Central College for a 1 p.m. match Sunday, March 26.

Illinois Wesleyan enters the match riding a four-game win streak after finishing its spring break trip with an unblemished record. Junior Evan Turnbull (Bloomington, Ill.-Bloomington) led the way as he compiled an 8-0 record between singles and doubles play. The eight wins propelled the junior to his first CCIW player of the week award Wednesday, March 22. It marks the first time IWU has had two players receive the weekly award in the same season since 2012, as junior Ryan McCoy (Arlington Heights, Ill.-Rolling Meadows) received the honor Wednesday, February 22.

Augustana enters off a 9-0 sweep over Illinois College Sunday, March 19. The match will mark the 16th meeting between the two programs, dating back to 2009. Augie holds a 13-2 advantage and has won the last 11 matchups, including the most previous meeting on April 16, 2022.

The match will see head coach Sam Totten take on his alma mater. Totten was a standout player for the Vikings, playing there from August 2014 until his graduation in May 2018. In his four years, Totten was named to the All-CCIW team all four years, making the first team three times, and was named the CCIW Man of the Year in his final season in 2018.

North Central (9-6) will face IWU after taking on Chicago State University that morning. The battle against the Cardinals will be the 20th meeting all-time, as the series dates back to the 2008-09 season. The Titans won the initial meeting, just edging out North Central, 5-4, April 23, 2009. NCC holds the overall advantage, 12-7, and has won the last seven matchups, including the most recent meeting April 2, 2022.

Results will be posted on iwusports.com following the completion of the match.
