Men’s Tennis to Take Road Trip to Iowa For Two Duals

Titans will compete at Cornell College and Coe College

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - Coming off a 2-0 weekend at home, the Illinois Wesleyan University men's tennis team will travel to Cornell College and Coe College for two separate duals Saturday, Feb. 25. 

Illinois Wesleyan (3-3) enters the matches after picking up wins over Monmouth College and Webster University Saturday-Sunday, Feb. 18-19. The Titans swept Monmouth (0-1), 9-0, before defeating Webster (3-6) 7-2 to close out the first weekend of home competition of the 2022-23 season. 

Junior Ryan McCoy (Arlington, Heights, Ill.-Rolling Meadows) picked up Conference College of Illinois and Wisconsin Player of the Week honors after putting together a three-win weekend. The Arlington Heights, Ill. native secured a win at No. 1 doubles with fellow junior Zeke Cross (Springfield, Ill.-Springfield) in the match against Monmouth, then was victorious at No. 2 singles and No. 2 doubles with junior Evan Turnbull (Bloomington, Ill.-Bloomington) against Webster. 

The Green and White will first stop in Mount Vernon, Iowa for a battle with Cornell College (3-3). This will mark the first time the two have faced off on the court. The Rams enter the match after dropping a battle to the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point 6-3, Feb. 18. 

At the conclusion of the match against the Rams, the Titans will travel up to Cedar Rapids, Iowa to take on Coe (4-1). This will also be the first time the two teams face off in program history. The Kohawks most recently defeated Milwaukee School of Engineering 6-3, Feb. 18. 

First serve against Cornell College is scheduled for 10 a.m., and the match against Coe is scheduled for a 3 p.m. start. Coe will be live streaming the event, which can be found here. Results for both matches will be posted on iwusports.com.
