BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University men's tennis team will travel to Elsah, Ill. to battle Principia College and Simpson College Saturday, Feb. 10. The Titans (0-2) will face Simpson (0-1) at 12:30 p.m., followed by a dual with Principia (2-0) at 3 p.m. The matches will take place at the Hexberg Tennis Center.
Illinois Wesleyan looks to rebound after dropping matches against Greenville University and Cedarville College Feb. 4. Then-sophomore Evan Turnbull (Bloomington, Ill.-Bloomington) won both of his matches.
This will be the first time in program history the Titans take on the Storm. Simpson, who dropped an 8-1 decision to Iowa Central Community College Sept. 16, will take the courts for the first time in 2023.
As for Principia, this will mark the sixth matchup, with Principia winning all five previous battles. The most recent dual was on April 2, 2022, which saw the Panthers edge out the Titans, 5-4. Then-sophomores Ryan McCoy (Arlington Heights, Ill.-Rolling Meadows) and
Jordan Sibley-Diggs (Oak Park, Ill.-Oak Park River Forest) paired up at No. 3 doubles to pick up the lone doubles point for the Titans in the match, taking the set 8-0. Sibley-Diggs was also victorious at No. 6 singles, winning with scores of 6-3, 6-0.
