NORMAL, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University men's basketball team squared off against Illinois State University for the first time in more than 50 years Sunday, Oct. 29. IWU fell to ISU, 78-46.

Illinois Wesleyan was led in scoring by senior Ryan Sroka (Lake in the Hills, Ill.-Huntley), who finished with 10 points. Senior Evan Schneider (St. Louis, Mo.-Ladue) added seven points, while junior Hakim Williams (Round Lake, Ill.-Round Lake) paced IWU with five rebounds. Luke Yoder (Normal, Ill.-Central Catholic) finished with a team-high five assists.

Freshman homegrown talent Mason Funk (Normal, Ill.-University High) impressed in his first career outing with six points on the afternoon on 3-of-5 shooting from the field in 10 minutes of action.

The relentless Redbird defense limited the Titans to a 16-of-58 shooting performance, including 4-of-24 from deep. Illinois State's bench proved to be a killer for the Green and White, as the Redbirds outscored the Titans 48-18 in bench points.

The Titans have one more tuneup, an exhibition game at Northern Illinois University Wednesday, Nov. 1, before hosting the Sikma Hall of Fame Invitational Friday-Saturday, Nov. 10-11.
