Men’s Soccer Travels to North Park for CCIW Tournament Quarterfinals

Kickoff is set for 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University men's soccer team starts its trek to the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin tournament Saturday, Oct. 28. IWU (5-6-3, 3-3-2 CCIW) is seeded sixth in the tournament and are playing against the No. 3 seed North Park University. Kick off is set for 5 p.m. at Holmgren Athletic Complex. 

The Titans most recently played the Cardinals from North Central in a 5-1 loss last Saturday, Oct. 21 for their senior day. The Vikings (10-5-2, 5-2-1 CCIW) played in their last regular season game Wednesday, Oct. 25 against CCIW foe Carroll University winning 2-nil. Carthage College earned the fourth seed, and rights to host the other quarterfinal, as the Firebirds will play No. 5 Elmhurst University at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 28, as well. 

The Titans and Vikings met earlier in the regular season on the campus of IWU where in the 87th minute of the game, freshman Faheem Mujahid (Saint Robert, Mo.-Waynesville) had a fast break to go one-on-one with the goalie, securing the win for the Green and White

The Vikings and the Titans have a lengthy history dating back to 1988. The Titans are now  9-27-2 to the Vikings and are looking to secure their 10th win to advance to the semifinals of the tournament. 

The winner of the quarterfinal match will advance to the CCIW semifinal, Wednesday, Nov. 1 and will face the No. 2 seed Wheaton College.
