Men’s Soccer Suffers Loss to No. 6 North Central

Next up is conference tournament

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University men's soccer team lost its senior day match to No. 6 North Central Saturday, Oct. 21, 5-1. The Titans (5-6-3) have secured a spot in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Tournament.

During the first half, the Cardinals (14-1-2) capitalized early on scoring their first goal just seven minutes into the game. NCC took advantage of their lead two more times, scoring in the 13th and the 14th minute of the game to be up 3-nil. With a penalty kick in the 40th minute the Cardinals were able to score one more at the end the half 4-nil.

The deficit was too much to overcome as IWU fell, 5-1. The Titans played a tough second half but in the end came up short. Sophomore Sam Kedzior (Cary, Ill.-Cary Grove) had a total of four saves on the game with five goals allowed.

Saturday's match marked the end of the regular season for the Titans, while their postseason hopes are still up in the air. IWU currently sits fifth in the league standings with 11 points. More information will be available on iwusports.com later this week as the bracket is finalized.
