BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – After extending its unbeaten streak to three, the Illinois Wesleyan University women's soccer team looks to host College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin foe, No. 24 North Central College for its final match of the regular season, Saturday, Oct. 21. Kickoff at Neis Field is slated for 12 p.m.
With their victory over Elmhurst University on Wednesday, Oct. 18, Illinois Wesleyan moves to a 3-11-2, 2-4-1 CCIW record. Sawyer White (Downers Grove, Ill.-Montini Catholic) was the mastermind in the Titans' 2-0 win over the Bluejays, scoring her first and second career goals in the second half of play. Freshman
Alexis Shackelfod (Orland Park, Ill.-Marist) notched her first career assist while freshman
Adriana Ruffolo (Bloomingdale, Ill.-Glenbard North) recorded her second straight shutout with two saves in the match.
White leads the Green and White's offensive front with two goals and three assists. Freshman Ava Mapes (Golden, Colo.-Lakewood) is just behind White with two goals and an assist while six more Titans have scored a goal this season.
North Central leads the conference with an undefeated 6-0 league record and a 14-2 overall record while ranking 24th in the latest United Soccer Coaches national rankings poll. Its most recent contest came in way of a 3-0 shutout over Millikin University, Wednesday, Oct. 18.
The Titans have a long-standing history with the Cardinals dating back to 1994. Illinois Wesleyan boasts a 27-4-1 series record against North Central with a 23-game win streak from 1999-2021. The two teams last met in the CCIW Tournament Championship match, Nov. 5, 2022, at Neis Field where the Titans defeated the Cardinals 4-1 to earn the automatic bid to the NCAA Regional Tournament.
