CHICAGO, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University women's volleyball team made the trip up to the windy city to take on the University of Chicago Tuesday, Sept. 6. The Titans (2-2) fell in straight sets to the Maroons (3-2) by set scores of 25-13, 25-13, and 25-15.
The Titans saw nine different players register a kill in the match but none registered more than three. The gamechanger for the Maroons was the 15 recorded blocks in the match paired with their six service aces. The Titans were heavily outpaced in kills, 38-16, and posted a -.080 hitting percentage.Â
Freshman Taylor French (Romeoville, Ill.-Plainfield East) led the team with seven digs. Juniors
Maddie Dryfhout (Orland Park, Ill.-Chicago Christian) and
Ellie Eager (Mendota, Ill.-Maquette Academy) were both credited with three kills apiece, tying for the team-high for the night.Â
The Titans return to action for their home opener Friday, September 9, at 7:30 p.m.against Concordia University-Wisconsin. The match will mark the beginning of the Illinois Wesleyan Classic I, taking place in the Shirk Center Sept. 9-10.
