Men’s Soccer Rounds Out Road Trip at Monmouth

Titans own a record of 0-1-1

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - After making the trek back to the Midwest, the Illinois Wesleyan University men's soccer team is scheduled to conclude its three-game road trip on Wednesday, Sept. 7, in Monmouth, Ill. against the Fighting Scots. Entering tomorrow's match, the Green and White have assembled a 0-1-1 clip on the year, while MC has a 0-2-1 record. 

Dating back to the 1986 campaign, these two programs have met on the pitch a total of 22 times. The Titans have seen success against the Fighting Scots with an overall record of 15-4-3. Wednesday's battle will mark the 23rd meeting between these two clubs. IWU welcomed a seven game winning streak from Oct. 12 1994 - Sept. 18 2009. These two teams last met Sept. 28 of last year that saw IWU claim a 4-0 victory. 

The Green and White last took to the pitch in the Sonny Carter Invitational, hosted by Emory University, Sept. 2-3 in Atlanta, Ga. The Titans garnered a hard fought 0-1-1 record by earning a draw with Oglethorpe (1-1) and came up short against the tournament hosts, Emory (3-0). 

In his first game as a Titan, junior Brody Seaton (Dunlap, Ill.-Peoria Notre Dame) notched the teams only goal of the tournament, the game-tying goal in the second half against Oglethorpe. Against Emory, the Dunlap, Ill. native garnered two shots, including one on goal. 

Upon the conclusion of the tournament, sophomore Justin Hart (Morton, Ill.-Morton) and Seaton were named to the all-tournament team for their exceptional efforts on the pitch. 

Sophomore Spencer Fulton (Bloomington, Ill.-Normal Community) earned both starts in front of the net for IWU. Playing in all 180 minutes, Fulton tabbed 11 saves over the two games, including eight against Oglethorpe.  

The Fighting Scots last action came yesterday, Monday, Sept. 5 against Principia College. Monmouth notched the equalizer in the 73rd minute to earn a 2-2 draw against the Panthers.
