BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University women's soccer team travels north to Kenosha, Wis. this Saturday, Sept. 24 for their College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin opener against Carthage College. Kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m. at Art Keller Field and will serve as the front end of a doubleheader with IWU men's soccer, which is scheduled to kickoff at 7:30 p.m.
Coming off a 0-0 draw against Albion on Tuesday, Sept. 20, the Titans enter the match with a 2-1-2 record. The Firebirds are looking for their first win with a record of 0-3-4.
Illinois Wesleyan is receiving votes as of Sept. 18 in the latest United Soccer Coaches poll. IWU and North Central College are the only College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin teams to be recognized by the United Soccer Coaches. The Titans are receiving votes while North Central College was slotted at No. 22.
Sophomore Liza Matimore (Gurnee, Ill.-Warren Township) has made her mark in the league so far this season. In the CCIW, Matimore checks in at No. 2 in assists per game (.600). She also ranks fourth in the conference in points per game with 1.4.
IWU and Carthage have an all-time series of 19-9-4 dating back to the 1994 season. The Titans have won seven straight games against the Firebirds, dating back to the 2015 season, with five of the victories coming via shutout.
