Men’s Soccer Win Streak Snapped at Loras

Titans travel to WashU Tuesday, Sept. 20

DUBUQUE, Iowa - The Illinois Wesleyan University men's soccer team saw its three-match win streak snapped Saturday night, Sept. 17, at Loras College. The Titans (3-2-1) were downed by the Duhawks (4-1), 1-nil, inside Loras' Rock Bowl.

Illinois Wesleyan and Loras finished the match with 12 shots apiece, but it was the Duhawks who controlled the match early. LC outshot IWU 7-2 in the first 45, including an 11th-minute goal by Michael Brandt. The strike proved to be the game-winner, despite a second-half push by the Green and White.

IWU doubled up Loras in shots in the second half, 10-5, including a 4-0 edge in shots on target. The Titans manufactured three corners, but could not find the equalizer in the 1-0 defeat.

Sophomore Spencer Fulton (Bloomington, Ill.-Normal Community) faced 12 shots, just two of which were on goal, and made one save in the setback.

The Titans will look to bounce back Tuesday night, Sept. 20, when IWU travels to St. Louis, Mo. for a non-conference matchup with Washington University in St. Louis. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
