Ludwig, Titans Lead WashU Spring Invitational as Records Fall on Day One

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Just weeks after the Illinois Wesleyan University women's golf single-round record was set by sophomore teammates Lexi Onsrud (Normal, Ill.-University High) and Emma Thorman (Macomb, Ill.-Macomb), freshman Macy Ludwig (Effingham, Ill.-St. Anthony) reset the mark with an outstanding opening round at the Washington University in St. Louis Spring Invitational Sunday, April 3. Ludwig fired a program-best 67 to finish three-under on the par-70, 5669-yard Quarry at Springs Golf Club and currently leads the 82-player field.

With Ludwig leading the way at three-under, Illinois Wesleyan holds an eight-stroke lead in the team standings. The Titans finished with the lowest round in school history, shooting a 290, to break the mark set by the 2017-18 squad at the 2017 IWU Fall Classic.

Freshman Jacque O'Neill (Harbor Springs, Mich.-Harbor Springs) sits tied for third at one-over. Onsurd holds a share of ninth-place following a four-over 74.

Behind the 21st-ranked Titans, No. 11 WashU sits second at 298, followed by DePauw, 16th-ranked Denison, and UW-Whitewater in a tie for third at 306. The Green and White 'B' team ranks 13th at 332.
