BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - With only six College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin games remaining, the Illinois Wesleyan University baseball team is set for a key three-game series against Augustana College. The first two games will be played tomorrow, April 29, in Rock Island, Ill., with a 2 p.m. first pitch. The final game of the series has been moved to Monday, May 2 in Bloomington, Ill. that has a 5:30 p.m. first pitch. Coming into the double dip, the Titans are currently sixth in the conference standings, while the Vikings are in second place. IWU owns a 15-15 (6-6 CCIW) record, with Augie standing at 23-8 (7-5 CCIW).

The Green and White last took to the diamond yesterday, April 27, for a unique non-conference contest against Division I Eastern Illinois University. IWU scored two runs in the top of the first to enjoy a quick 2-0 lead, however, EIU answered with four in the bottom of the first and never looked back. The Panthers went on to win 7-4. IWU outhit Eastern (11-6) as all 17 hits in the game were singles.

Meanwhile, winners of two-in-a-row, Augustana took on Rockford University, Tuesday, April 26. The Vikings claimed a 10-6 victory that included 10 hits and one homerun.

Friday's game one will mark the 120th all-time meeting between these two CCIW foes. Augie holds the very slim, 60-59, all-time series advantage that began in the 1989 campaign. AC has won the last two matchups as IWU's last victory came on April 17 of last year.

For the year, senior Dominic DiLello (Springfield, Ill.-Sacred Heart Griffin) leads the offense with a .449 batting average, 1.182 OPS, and a .622 slugging percentage. He is also tied for first with 36 runs scored and 44 hits. For conference games, DiLello tops the CCIW with his .600 on base percentage.

Sophomore Louis Perona (Chicago, Ill.-Lane Tech) is second on the team with a .413 batting average with 26 hits in 63 at bats.

Junior Ethan Burgh (Arlington Heights, Ill.-Prospect) has driven in 32 on the year, which is the most on the team. Junior Jalen Ping (Chatham, Ill.-Glenwood) and senior Jared Mutter (Frankfort, Ill.-Lincoln-Way East) have accumulated 31 and 30 RBI, respectively.

The Titan pitching staff is currently sitting on a combined 6.59 ERA for the year. Freshman Josh Davis (Channahon, Ill.-Minooka) is the team's ERA leader with a slim 1.74 earned run average in his 10 and a third innings worked.
