Men’s Tennis Drops Both Matches in Tri-Meet

Titans head to Wisconsin Friday-Saturday, April 8-9

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University men's tennis team fell to North Central College and Principia College in a triangular Saturday, April 2. IWUlo st 9-0 to College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin competitor NCC and was edged by the Panthers, 5-4. 

At No. 2 doubles, the pairing of sophomore Ryan McCoy (Arlington Heights, Ill.-Rolling Meadows) and senior Shanku Nair (Bloomington Ill.-Normal Community) were the only doubles duo to take games from the Cardinals. McCoy and Nair fought to win four out of the eight games in the set but were defeated, 8-4. 

IWU put up a good fight against the Panthers in the second match of the day. At No. 3 doubles, McCoy and new partner Jordan Sibley-Diggs (Oak Park, Ill.-Oak Park River Forest), got IWU's lone point during doubles play. The duo took its set 8-0. 

At No. 4, 5, and 6 singles, senior Justin Piotrowski (Palatine, Ill.-Fremd), Nair, and Sibley-Diggs each tallied a point for the Green and White, respectively. Piotrowski secured his point with set scores of 6-3, 6-1, Nair grabbed the win after recording scores of 6-2, 6-1, and Sibley-Diggs won with scores of 6-3, 6-0. 

The Titans head to Wisconsin to face Carroll University and Carthage College Friday-Saturday, April 8-9. IWU is scheduled to play Carroll at 3 p.m. in Waukesha before squaring off against Carthage at 11 a.m. in Kenosha.
