BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University men's tennis team welcomes North Central College and Principia College for a triangular Saturday, April 2 at Beadles-Morse Courts. The Titans (3-5) are scheduled to play College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin opponent NCC (13-2) at 10 a.m. and PC (4-5) at 4 p.m. The Cardinals and Panthers are also set to play in Bloomington at 1 p.m.
IWU is returning to action coming off its spring break trip in Florida, March 14-17. In the Sunshine State, the Titans split its four matches recording a 2-2 record. After a loss in the teams first match against Eckerd College, the Titans won its next two matches against Stevenson University and Colby-Sawyer College, respectively, before falling to last-minute callup, Division I Fairleigh Dickinson University.
The International Tennis Association released its regional rankings, March 28, which saw North Central placed at No. 9 in the Central Region. The Titans have played NCC numerous times with Saturday's match to mark the 18th all-time meeting. IWU has fallen to the Cardinals in the recent seasons as NCC holds the advantage, 11-7, in the all-time series. Most recently IWU faced off against NCC last season, March 26 where the Green and White fell 8-1 in Naperville.
IWU has played against the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference opponent, Principia, a total of four times dating back to the 2011-12 season. The Titans have dropped every match played against the Panthers trailing in the all-time series, 4-0.
This Saturday, several Illinois Wesleyan athletic teams will come together to raise money for St. Jude. As part of the day, t-shirts will be sold for $15 at the men's and women's lacrosse games, softball games, baseball games, and men's volleyball game. Additionally, each game will host a 50/50 raffle, with proceeds from both the raffle and t-shirt sales going to St. Jude.
