Chudy Makes History for Women’s Cross Country at NCAA Championships

First sophomore to qualify individually for race in IWU history

LANSING, Mich. - Sophomore Annalese Chudy (Libertyville, Ill.-Libertyville) of the Illinois Wesleyan University women's cross country team made history Saturday morning, Nov. 19 at Forest Akers Golf Course in Lansing, Mich. Chudy made her first career appearance at the NCAA Championships and etched her name in IWU history by becoming the first sophomore to earn an at-large bid for the championship 6k race. Out of 292 runners, the Libertyville, Ill. native secured 96th place with a time of 23:24.90. 

Loras' Kassie Parker bested the field with a time of 21:06.50 to claim the individual NCAA Championship crown. Johns Hopkins took home the team championship with 144 points, while the University of Chicago (147 points) and Wartbug (178 points) rounded out the top three. 

This marks the end of the 2022 campaign for Chudy and the women's cross country squad. The team is set to return every runner to the 2023 team except for one.
