BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University women's soccer team enters its 20th consecutive postseason run Wednesday, Nov. 2 as the Titans host Carroll University in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Tournament Semifinal. IWU welcomes the Pioneers to Neis Field for a 7 p.m. kickoff.

The Titans (6-1-1 CCIW), the No. 1 seed heading into tournament play, will square off against the No. 4 seed Carroll (3-1-4 CCIW). The Pioneers last played in the CCIW Quarterfinals match Saturday, Oct. 29 against No. 5 seed Augustana College. A double-overtime win and 98th minute goal by the Pio's secured their spot in the semifinal round. IWU earned a bye into the semifinal match after its first-place ranking in the league. Similarly, No. 2 North Central College also earned a bye to the semis and will play No. 3 Wheaton College, the winner of the quarterfinal match over No. 6 Carthage College.

The All-CCIW team was announced by the league Friday, Oct. 28 and saw a wave of Green and White reel in specialty honors. Senior Caelyn Steffens (Normal, Ill.-Normal Community) was named the Offensive Player of the Year for the third year in-a-row. Freshman Sawyer White (Downers Grove, Ill.-Montini Catholic) was tabbed Newcomer of the Year, and head coach Oz Bakirdan, in his first season, was voted the Coach of the Year. In addition to Steffens, senior Lauren Shanks (Bloomington, Ill.-Central Catholic) was named to the All-CCIW First Team. Senior Jenna Li (Haslett, Mich.-Lansing Christian), White, and sophomore Kayla Borg (McHenry, Ill.-Cary Grove) were honored on the All-CCIW Second Team. Senior Maggie Peters (Normal, Ill.-Normal Community) was named IWU's CCIW RESPECT recipient.

IWU and Carroll have played each other just nine times before, as Wednesday's midweek match will mark the 10th all-time meeting. The Titans hold the series advantage 6-1-2. Most recently, the Green and White tied the Pioneers, 1-1 in regular season play Oct. 8 and was the Titans' only conference tie of the season, while Carroll played to four draws in CCIW action.

The winner of the semifinal match will advance to the CCIW Championships, Saturday, Nov. 5 and will face the winner of the NCC and Wheaton semifinal game.
