BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - With only six regular season matches remaining, the Illinois Wesleyan University men's soccer team will make the trek to Rock Island, Ill. for a College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin duel with the Vikings of Augustana College. The match is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5 inside of Thorson-Lucken Field. Entering the CCIW contest, the Green and White own a record of 3-5-2 (0-2 CCIW), while Augie, searching for the team's first victory, has manufactured a clip of 0-8-1 (0-2 CCIW).

When the two programs meet on Wednesday, it will mark the 37th all-time meeting, dating back to the 1987 campaign. The Vikings hold the slim, 18-15-3, series advantage over the Titans. However, the Green and White has seen success in recent history as IWU has won the 10 of the last 11 meetings. The Titans are currently on a three-match winning streak against Augie, dating back to Oct. 16 of 2019. Most recently, IWU claimed a 5-2 decision on Oct. 16 of last year thanks to four first-half tallies.

The Titans last took to the pitch Saturday, Oct. 1 against Wheaton. The Thunder notched two first-half goals, including the game-winner in the final seconds to claim the 2-0 cushion after the first 45. Junior Gavin Smith (Seattle, Wash.-Eastside Preparatory School) cracked the scoreboard with this third goal of the season in the 68th minute of action. However, the Thunder's defensive line stood strong and thwarted the tenacious Titan comeback efforts as WC escaped with the 2-1 victory.

On the flip side, Augie also last competed on Saturday, Oct. 1. The Vikings traveled to face CCIW opponent Carthage. The Firebirds welcomed a pair of goals in the first 17 minutes to snag the quick 2-0 lead. Another CC tally in the 50th pushed the advantage to 3-0. Carthage would eventually earn the 3-0 shutout, marking Augie's seventh straight setback.

For the season, Smith leads the offense with his team-high eight points with a trio of goals coupled with a pair of helpers. The Seattle, Wash. native has manufactured 17 shots on the year, including nine on target, both of which are team-highs.

Fellow junior Sasha Tylnyy (Wheeling, Ill.-Buffalo Grove) is tied with Smith for the team lead with his three goals, good for six points. Tylnyy has tallied a dozen shots, with eight on frame, good for second on the team.

Tylnyy, sophomore Justin Hart (Morton, Ill.-Morton), Kalabi Kamau (Alpharetta, Ga.-Marist School), and junior Brody Seaton (Dunlap, Ill.-Peoria Notre Dame) are the only four Titans who have earned a start in all 10 contests this year.

Freshman Sam Kedzior (Cary, Ill.-Cary Grove) has notched three straight starts between the posts for the Green and White, accumulating 270 minutes of action on the year. Kedzior checks in at fourth place in the CCIW with his 6.50 saves per match average as well as sixth place with a .722 save percentage.
